Aperture 3 – Book Theme Trick

You might remember a post from way way back that I wrote on how to inject a custom set of typefaces and sizes into an Apple designed book theme. It involved getting your hands dirty inside the Apple provided theme files using a text editor. Not hard and certainly not “dangerous” in any way as long as you work on a copy of the theme in your local library folder. Of course there are a ton of things that you can do to customize themes in this way. Heck...

New Aperture eBook

Well it took a while but it’s here. A new Aperture eBook. This one covers the Aperture book tool. If you have been following my posts you probably know how much I love making things with photos and how great I think the Aperture book tool is. There is far more to the book tool that just Apple provided themes and Apple printed books. The book tool is really a tool to print any thing you want. Even if you don’t print things it can do all kinds of...

Aperture Book Tool – Screen Cast Take Two

Okay, if your finely tuned senses can take my harsh treatment of digital YouTube media in their somehow lousier quality than my original 720p version, here is take two of that short screencast that I asked your opinion on a few days ago. Aperture eBook Announcement

I have received a bunch of encouragement and suggestions from people that have downloaded my Aperture eBooks. I thank everyone for their input. I do take it to heart. I have also received some questions about the “coming soon” eBooks. Questions like: When? What happens with Aperture 3? What’s next? Can I just get them all with one click? If I buy them all can I get a special deal? I am going to let you know where my head is at and if anyone else has some input...

Aperture – Book Tool Collage

An Aperture user over on the Apple discussion board wanted a way to print out “crops” of a single picture so that you you could print them out on 4×6 inch paper and paste them together to make a big picture. I interpreted this as an “art” project so I suggested the Aperture Book tool. Instead of explaining it I just did a little tiny video. Actually if I were doing this I would probably zoom the images a bit and skew them as well just so when I...

Aperture and Blurb – Again

A long long time ago I put up a couple of posts about a couple of ways to use Aperture’s easy to use but completely undocumented book layout tool for just about any book printing service. I guess all of a sudden these services have become far more popular and hence I have receive a bunch of questions specifically related to blurb.com and Aperture. Instead of trying to recap all of the information exchanged I am just going to give a couple of guidelines to help point people interested...
