DB

I actually downloaded the Lightroom trial and yes, it's really amazing how close the RAW files are to the JPEG's without adjusting anything other than applying the Nikon presets. It's also much, much faster (ie less beachballs). But the interface and organization features of Aperture are better in my opinion. What to do?

I have to admit the lack of support for NEF's in Aperture is really a problem for me. I have thousands of family photos and random shots just lying there because I don't have the time or am too lazy to edit them. To the point that i've started shooting "non-photoshoot" things in JPEG on my LX3 exclusively. Otherwise I just don't do anything with them.

If this continues I may have to consider moving away from Aperture. Although that'll be a nightmare!

Gabe,

Thank you so much for your feedback - I really love to hear from people that find anything here useful. I feel you on the Aperture thing to, you have to know that I love the software overall but being a Nikon shooter I am having a really hard time now that I know that lightroom can do NEF's without all the hoopla that I go through now.

Thanks for this tip (and all your previous ones) you're probably the best source of Aperture tips and as a fellow Aperture user I appreciate your sharing.
I also share your frustrations with the software. Hopefully we'll all be pleasantly surprised with a new version soon. Aperture's management is so great that I'd hate to move away from it.
